After 72 Events have been completed, the 48th Annual World Series of Poker continues at a break neck speed with the Main Event’s Final table just around the corner; you can spot anxious players rubbing their hands in anticipation and dreaming of the Championship Title.
Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em took longer than expected and a 4th day was added with Emile Schiff and Chris Klodnicki returning for a final table heads-up duel. It was Klodnicki who emerged victorious and took home $428,423 dollars to add to his poker winnings of more than nine million and his very first, finally, gold WSOP bracelet.
Event #67: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed High Roller was conquered by James Calderaro for his first gold bracelet and $1,289,074 to add to his many other poker victories. And he does it not just for the thrill of victory but also for his kids. He gave his WPT Championship to his first born son and this bracelet will go to his second son.
Event #68: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em was taken down by Harrison Gimbel, giving him a sweet check for $645,922 but most importantly, his first WSOP gold bracelet. With this win Gimbel became poker’s newest “Triple Crown” winner. To earn a Triple Crown, a player has to win a World Poker Tour main event, a WSOP bracelet, and an EPT or PokerStars Championship main event and Gimbel accomplished just that with this win.
Event #69: $1,500 Razz gave Jason Gola $132,957 and his first WSOP gold bracelet after taking down David “ODB” Baker after a six-hour heads-up. Gola outlasted a tough table that included Phil Hellmuth who was knocked out in sixth place by Baker.
Heidi May captured her first bracelet in Event #70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship after she easily destroyed Deborah “Debs the Destroyer Worley-Roberts and picked up $135,098 for the win.
Event #71: $1,000 WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold’em Championship was picked up by Nipun “Javatinii” Java. For his victory, he won $237,668 as well as his second World Series of Poker gold bracelet.
Event #72: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship – Mike Wattel won his second WSOP gold bracelet and the $245,451 first prize when he ran over infamous Chris “Jesus” Ferguson after six hours of heads up play.
