Our eyes and ears at the Rio Hotel and Casino called to tell us how flabbergasted they were at the ludicrous, nearly insane, amounts of money being pocketed at the 45th Annual World Series of Poker.
Mike “babyshark33” Kachan ran away with Event #56: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em. He bagged $403,483 plus his first WSOP bracelet which he stated that he couldn’t wait to put on his 10-month-old son’s wrist. “Babyshark33” eliminated Jeff Blenkarn heads-up, leaving him with out a bracelet but with $250,815 in cash.
Then came Event #57: The Big One for One Drop. Forty-two players ponied up $1,000,000 each to shoot for it all but when the dust settled after 114 hands played Daniel Colman, just 23 years of age and appearing at his first WSOP final table defeated Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu heads up. Coleman walked away with the title of Champion, a huge payday of $15,306,668 and the platinum one of a kind bracelet.
Although this was “Kid Poker’s” second runner-up finish at the 2014 WSOP taking second in Event #13: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship — the $8,288,001 he earned for 2nd place in Event# 57 is the largest score of his career. This makes him the all-time live tournament money earner. Topping the first ONE DROP winner, Antonio Esfandiari. Negreanu was heard telling news reporters on the scene that “The $8 million is good, but… it’s important to reinforce that $4.6 million was raised for charity. Otherwise, it’s a bunch of rich people with too much money gambling for stakes that are obscene.”
Here is the top ten list of money, bucks, moola, cash won by poker’s tournament players (according to the Hendon Mob.):
